PLx has developed a novel oral GI safe NSAID drug delivery system (PLx Guard™) thatthrough a lipid-based complex, makesNSAIDs more lipophilic and therefore facilitates the delivery through the duodenal mucosa. Its most advanced product is a new formulation of aspirin -PL2200 Aspirin- which is bioequivalent to regularaspirin andhas demonstrated a significantly lower ulceration rate compared with immediate releaseaspirin (70% less ulcers).The product has the potential to become the new aspirin standard of care for patients most at risk for cardiovascular disease.
